Married At First Sight’s Cathy Evans reveals she moved from New Zealand to Australia for a man who ‘ended up cheating’ on her – as her trust issues are exposed on the show
It’s been just over four years since Married At First Sight star Cathy Evans moved to Australia.
And now the New Zealand-raised bride has revealed she moved to Australia to be with her long distance boyfriend at the time, who later cheated on her.
The 26-year-old explained she doesn’t regret the move despite her relationship setbacks and now sees Australia as her true home.

The logistics investigator told 9now the move was also about work opportunities and a fresh start, as well as her long distance relationship.
She had been considering moving to Australia since 2014, when she asked for city recommendations on Instagram.
In August 2015, Cathy moved to Maroubra Beach in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs.

Cathy revealed the move was ‘daunting’, fearing she wouldn’t be able to make new friends as an adult.
‘I was really nervous doing it and I was concerned,’ the reality star said.
She added: ‘I felt like I was going to really struggle. But once I was into it, I was fine. I made friends quite easily.’

But Cathy eventually struggled with heartbreak, after feeling suspicious her boyfriend was seeing somebody else behind her back.
Cathy told Nine Now in February that when she confronted him, her former partner told her he was ‘not attracted to her’ and ‘not into this’.
‘The week after we’d broken up my friends had gone out to the beach somewhere and they saw him holding hands with another girl, and it was the girl I had this inclination he was cheating on me with,’ she explained.

The Sydney-based beauty says she questioned her worth and wondered if she was not attractive after the betrayal.
Cathy also revealed she was cheated on again in a later relationship, and the devastation left her feeling vulnerable in her relationship with groom Josh, 28.
‘The fight happened because I was feeling jealous, I was feeling intimidated that he was speaking to Hayley,’ Cathy admitted, referring to her female MAFS co-star.

She continued: ‘I brought it up with him. I got defensive and angry and it made it just a thousand times worse.
‘Josh has said to me that “if you have trust issues with me, I will write ‘Leave’ because I cannot be with a girl who has trust issues” and it broke my heart that he said that.’
While the pair worked through their issues in a tearful commitment ceremony, they have since struggled with communication, which led to Cathy not speaking to Josh for three days.
