Married At First Sight fans are torn over self-proclaimed ‘Bond villain’ Michael Goonan’s behaviour on the show. 

During Wednesday night’s episode, Michael interrogated Aleks Markovic about her relationship with Ivan Sarakula after she ‘friendzoned’ him in the previous episode. 

On Twitter, fans slammed Michael for repeatedly pestering Aleks and Ivan at the dinner party but others praised him for his entertainment value.

‘If Michael is the moral compass of this group, I’m out,’ one viewer wrote.

Another viewer said: ‘Why is Michael literally that one girl in your year 8 class who got off on stirring up drama.’ 

‘Can Alex pull a Martha (Kalifatidis) and chuck wine on Michael, he deserves it,’ another viewer wrote, referencing last year’s feud between Martha and Cyrell Paule. 

Michael became the series villain after he allegedly cheated on his on-screen wife Stacey Hampton by kissing another contestant, Hayley Vernon.

Despite the scandal, some viewers praised him for bringing drama to what was otherwise an uneventful dinner party.   

‘Michael is the biggest demon of all time but let’s be real he has carried this whole season on his back [and] there would be no show without him,’ one fan wrote. 

‘Unpopular opinion: Michael is awesome… Haha this show would be so much more boring if it wasn’t for him,’ another fan said. 

Meanwhile, another viewer said: ‘Is Michael a secret producer who’s been planted into the group? He’s stirring the pot like a professional.’

During Wednesday night’s episode, Michael left Aleks in tears after questioning why she had abandoned her romantic relationship 

He then accused Ivan of putting him up to the task, resulting in Aleks storming out of the dinner party and her ‘husband’ following closely behind. 

Michael has embraced his role on the show, having previously referred to himself as a ‘James Bond villain’ in a video posted to Instagram. 

‘Oi! Every Bond film needs a villain. Ladies and gentlemen, here he is! Suck your heart out,’ he said in the clip.
