‘No wonder she’s insecure’: Married At First Sight fans react to bride Connie Crayden’s disapproving mother

She was gearing up to walk down the aisle with a complete stranger.

And on Sunday night’s episode of Married At First Sight it was contestant Connie Crayden’s mother, Rina, who sent fans into a frenzy on Twitter.

‘Connie’s mum laughs hysterically at her, points out that she doesn’t have a boyfriend and is unsupportive of her decision. I wonder why Connie has such low self-esteem,’ one user commented.

She even went so far as to threaten to derail her daughter’s wedding to Jonethen Musulin in the episode, raging against production.

Disapproving Rina, who initially called the show ‘ridiculous and catty’, slammed MAFS ‘manipulative’ editing while speaking to producers at the Melbourne ceremony.

‘This interview for example, you’re going to take bits out and not play everything that I’ve said, that’s for sure,’ Rina said, when asked about her issues with the show.

Discussing the big day, Rina also barked: ‘Clearly as a mother, when your child tells you, “Hey mum, I’m going on a show that you don’t like”, that’s made it worse.

‘I can’t stand your show – it’s an experiment that went wrong [last year] … I think the show can be quite manipulating.’

In the evening, Rina warned guests ‘not to say anything mean’ as they’re wearing microphones.
