‘She’s what we all need right now!’ MasterChef viewers flock to social media as the show’s competitors turn into giggling messes around guest judge Katy Perry
The MasterChef: Back To Win kitchen erupted into chaos on Thursday night’s episode when Katy Perry arrived as a surprise guest judge.
And within seconds, the normally cool and calm competitors were reduced to a sweaty, shaky, giggly mess as they freaked out over the megastar.
Fans of the hit Channel 10 program rushed to Twitter to praise the guest stint, saying the heartwarming reactions were exactly what ‘we all need’.

‘Katy Perry on MasterChef is what we all need right now,’ wrote one excited fan.
Another added: ‘The contestants meeting Katy Perry tonight is precious.’
‘I love this everyone fangirling and freaking out over Katy Perry,’ commented a third.

Reece Hignell and Poh Ling Yeow particularly won viewers’ hearts, when they were left speechless by the Firework hitmaker.

However, not everyone was a fan, with some labelling the zany singer’s high energy hard to swallow.
‘Katy Perry is just too much, I’m tired of this,’ complained one at-home viewer.
‘Honestly, why is Katy Perry a guest judge, she just said she was fussy eater. I mean it was fun and cute seeing all the fans reactions for five minutes but now I’m over it,’ quipped another.

The MasterChef competitors had no idea the singer was scheduled to be a guest judge until she walked in halfway through the immunity challenge.
In the episode, the cooks were tasked with whipping up a hot and cold dish, in homage to the singer and show’s theme song – Hot N Cold.
Katy filmed the guest appearance when she was in Australia in March.
