MasterChef star Reece Hignell is left starstruck when he meets Katy Perry

MasterChef fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of superstar singer Katy Perry on the reality cooking series. 

But it appeared contestant Reece Hignell was the biggest super fan of them all, when he was lost for words when the California Girls singer stopped to talk to him. 

On Thursday night’s episode of the Channel Ten show, Reece struggled to even make eye contact with the American Idol judge. 

‘Hi Reece, how are you?’ Katy asked, politely. 

‘Oh sh*t,’ Reece uttered, as he nervously looked down from his workspace.    

‘I don’t know how to talk, I don’t know how to move, I’m just shutting down,’ he told the camera, looking like he was about to utterly lose it. 

Heavily pregnant Katy managed to take the super fan’s nerves in her stride.  

‘Reece, the only thing is I don’t love really fishy things, so anyone that’s doing anything very fishy, I mean [stop],’ Katy told him warmly.  

Despite the giddy chef still struggling to get a word out, Katy took the opportunity to make a light-hearted joke at his expense. 

Reece told the performer that he was making a ‘cake’, which prompted her to say while she loves cake she is also gluten intolerant.  

‘Ever since I became with child, I’m definitely into it,’ she said, before adding: ‘I have a serious allergy to gluten though … JK.’ 

Reece finished: ‘Katy Perry is literally like a goddess, floating through the kitchen.’ 

During the show, the reality stars were thrilled by Katy’s visit the kitchen. They were tasked with creating something ‘hot n cold’ in honour of her hit song. 

In the scenes filmed earlier this year, the singer openly flaunted her baby bump in a sophisticated burnt orange dress.
