Mazzy the Van: How you can enjoy a weekend getaway in a ‘GIN caravan’ this summer

Gin lovers are in for a treat this summer with the launch of Australia’s first ever dedicated ‘gin caravan’ and glamping getaway.

Mazzy the Van, a renovated 1979 Viscount Royal vintage caravan on the New South Wales south coast, has been transformed by The Botanist Gin to offer holidaymakers a luxury experience complete with a free $82 bottle and a cocktail station.

The van, which can be booked on Camplify from now until February 28, 2022 for $140 a night, is set up for guests at any camp site they choose within a 100km radius of Flinders, 86km south of the Sydney CBD.

The coastal-inspired van is kitted out with a complimentary 700mL bottle of gin, Fever Tree Indian Tonic Water, a Botanicus flavoured herbal Tea Tube, dried fruit garnishes and everything needed for creating gin cocktails.

Recipes include ‘The Passionist’, a cool cocktail reminiscent of the Aussie classic Passionfruit Pavlova and the Blush, a cocktail best served warm, combining gin, honey, Botanicus Herbal Tea and a cinnamon quill garnish.

Guests can also enjoy deck chairs, a beach cart with towels and an umbrella, kitchen and BBQ facilities and cold drinks from esky stacked with ice.

The van, Mazzy, is named after owner Kate Kerr’s mother, and has been a hit with campers since it first became available.
