A cafe in Melbourne has created an eye-popping new meal that features crispy bacon hung on a mini ‘Hills Hoist’ with pegs. 

The unique dish, priced at $27.90, comes courtesy of Third Wave Cafe, a restaurant loved by many for its outlandish culinary creations.

Its latest, aptly named The Bacon Hills Hoist, features four thick cuts of bacon ‘pegged’ to a line which have been brushed with maple syrup before being grilled using a blow torch.

The meal comes served with four chunky cornbread chips that have been designed to soak up the juices of the bacon as it cooks – and there’s side serving of pickles.

Those wishing to indulge in this quirky creation can visit Third Wave Cafe where the dish is available as part of restaurant’s special menu running throughout April.

Since unveiling the dish on social media, thousands have given the meal the tick of approval and tagged in scores of friends they might enjoy the meal.

‘This better not be an April Fool’s joke,’ said one.

According to Third Wave Cafe, the meal has been a hit with diners with plenty of demand for the gastronomical delight.

The restaurant has built its reputation on creating food that regularly defies all expectation and wows with its more-is-more approach. 

One dish which couldn’t have been more epic was its world’s first ‘mac and cheese pancake, priced at $52.

This gargantuan dish, designed to be devoured by two hungry diners, was on offer to customers for the month of March.

It came with pulled pork nuggets, smoked chicken wings and skewered corn on the cob.

Extras included bacon wrapped pickles and oink balls (pork meatballs, wrapped in bacon) and the whole thing was topped off in style with lashings of cheese sauce.
