Michael, Kyly Clarke split: She was still wearing her wedding ring last week

Kyly Clarke put on a brave face while running errands in Sydney last week, in her last public appearance before it was revealed she had separated from husband Michael.

The Clarkes, who married in 2012, announced on Wednesday they were planning to divorce, after keeping up appearances for five months.

The 38-year-old former model was pictured outside her regular gym in Rose Bay on Monday, February 3. She appeared to be wearing a black band on her ring finger, which she is known to wear instead of her wedding ring when working out.

She seemed to be in a good mood as she stepped out in the rain in skintight leggings, a Puma singlet and sneakers.

Meanwhile, Kyly’s good friend, radio host Kyle Sandilands, spoke about the break-up on air on Thursday morning.

He told listeners of The Kyle and Jackie O Show he had recently bumped into Kyly in Sydney and ‘something was not right there’.

At the time, it was not public knowledge that the Clarkes were living apart.

‘You know when you think, “Something was not right there?” There was nothing obvious but I caught a vibe,’ he said.

‘I thought to myself, “God, have I said something about them [Michael and Kyly] that I should have?” Because I like them, I wouldn’t say anything s**t about people I like.

‘I just got a vibe, and it must have been these two going through [a separation]. Because I think I would have asked, “How’s Michael? How’s family life?” I would have definitely said all those things.’

Michael, a former Australian cricket captain, and his wife of seven years announced their separation on Wednesday.

The couple said in a joint statement the ‘amicable’ decision was ‘the best course’ for their four-year-old daughter, Kelsey Lee.

The news came as a surprise to many, as Kyly had told Daily Mail Australia in January 2019: ‘We’re not, never were and never will be splitting.’

Just eight months later, Michael reportedly moved out of their $12million home in Vaucluse, Sydney, but Kyly has continued to wear her wedding ring and pose for happy family photos in an effort to keep up appearances.

The Clarkes, both 38, have already agreed terms on their divorce, as well as arrangements to co-parent their daughter.

‘After living apart for some time, we have made the difficult decision to separate as a couple amicably,’ the statement issued to The Australian‘s Media Diary read.

‘With the greatest of respect for each other, we’ve come to the mutual conclusion that this is the best course for us to take while committed to the co-parenting of our daughter.’

In a sign they were about to announce their split, the pair both posted individual pictures with their daughter earlier this week.
