Mohamed Salah ‘concerned Liverpool might be open to selling him and will NOT push to leave the club’

Mohamed Salah ‘concerned Liverpool might be open to selling him and will NOT push for an Anfield exit this summer’ despite previously outlining his temptation to play in Spain

  • Mohamed Salah refused to rule out a move away from Liverpool last month
  • The Egyptian star flirted with Real Madrid after being linked with a move to Spain
  • However, reports are claiming that Salah will not push for an exit this summer
  • Despite this, the winger is ‘concerned’ that the Reds may be open to selling him

Mohamed Salah is reportedly concerned that Liverpool may consider cashing in on him this summer after he flirted with a move away from the club in recent months.

The Egyptian forward stunned the Reds back in December when he admitted he would be open to joining LaLiga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Three months later, Salah, who is out of contract in the summer of 2023, would stir the pot again in an interview with Marca, where he admitted that it is possible he could leave Anfield for a move to Spain in the future.

While Liverpool refused to publicly address the comments, the reigning Premier League champions are now considering Salah’s future at the club, according to The Athletic.

The report goes on to state that, despite flirting with a move to Spain, Salah will not push for a move away from Anfield this summer.

However, the 28-year-old is ‘concerned’ that the club view his future differently and could now be ready to cash in on him.

During an interview with Marca in March, Salah refused to rule out a move away from Merseyside when asked about the possibility of playing in Spain.

He said: ‘I hope to be able to play for many more years. Why not? No one knows what’s going to happen in the future.

‘So… maybe one day, yes. It’s not up to me. We’ll see what happens but I prefer not to talk about that now.’

Salah’s response about his future was similar to the one he gave Spanish outlet AS back in December when he was asked if he would rule out a move to LaLiga in the future.

Back then he said: ‘I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs.

‘Who knows what will happen in the future, but right now I am focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool again.’

When pressed on his future further, Salah insisted everything was in Liverpool’s hands, adding: ‘That’s a tough question, but right now I can say that everything is in the hands of the club.

‘Of course I want to break records here and, I repeat, all the club records, but everything is in the hands of the club.’

Salah has also been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, with Telefoot reporting earlier this week that the Ligue 1 side have made Salah their primary target should Kylian Mbappe leave the club this summer.

Real Madrid are believed to be leading the pack chasing Mbappe’s signature, while the Parisians are ‘losing patience’ in their contract talks with Mbappe and could consider a cut-price sale this summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are three points behind fourth-place West Ham and two points behind Chelsea, though Salah has helped the Reds reverse their miserable slump and inject some confidence at Anfield.

The winger scored the leveller as Liverpool came from behind to beat Aston Villa at the weekend, making in three top-flight victories in a row.
