Mother of missing Levi Davis arrives in Spain to search for her son as barmaid retraces his steps

The mother of missing rugby player Levi Davis arrived in Spain today to help search for her son as fears grow for his safety.

Julie Davis touched down at Barcelona Airport late this morning accompanied by her son Nathan to meet police and local authorities and to retrace Levi’s last steps.

She wept tonight as she emerged from a three-hour meeting with police and British Consulate officials who told her there were no fresh sightings of her son.

Former Bath rugby union star Levi has not been seen since October 29, when he left friends in Ibiza and caught a ferry alone to Barcelona.

Wiping away a tear, an exhausted Mrs Davis told MailOnline: ‘There has been no record of Levi leaving Spain, through airports or ferry ports.

‘There hasn’t been any new sightings of him since October 29. The police are checking the CCTV on the route he took but have yet to find a breakthrough.

‘It’s a long, long process but the police are being extremely helpful in doing all they can and are following up on all leads all the time. Although it’s very slow, we’re still hopeful.

‘I’m very tired and feel a bit dazed, which I think is more mental fatigue than anything, but that’s the least of my worries.

‘I’ve given the police as much information as possible, Levi’s phone number, his bank account details, anything that can be checked. The authorities are also checking DNA samples.

‘We are hoping to meet with the officers again tomorrow. We are staying positive.’

Mrs Davis travelled to the Spanish city from her home in Birmingham and is staying near to where Levi disappeared until the weekend.

He was last seen visiting the The Old Irish pub on Barcelona’s famous Rambla dels Caputxins street of bars and nightclubs. MailOnline can reveal he stayed for just 30 minutes.

He was caught on the pub’s CCTV leaving the venue at 10.05pm carrying a small black rucksack and wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt, black trousers and black and white trainers.

The barmaid who served him said today that the 24-year-old came in at about 9.35pm and stayed for just half an hour drinking a pint of Heineken and watching the Leeds vs Liverpool game on television.

She said he was by himself but seemed like ‘normal person in a pub’ before leaving alone and heading towards the quieter end of La Rambla away from the nightclubs.

The pub worker, who asked not to be identified, said: ‘He came into the pub on a Saturday night around 9.30pm – 9.35pm, before the place got busy.

‘I served him. He seemed perfectly normal, I can’t say what kind of frame of mind he was in but he didn’t seem to me to be particularly upset or particularly happy.

‘He ordered a beer, a pint of Heineken, and he sat in the pub watching the football.

‘I was serving at the bar and I couldn’t see if he was talking to any other customers. I don’t think he was. He came in by himself and he left alone.

‘He wasn’t in for very long, just half an hour, and he came out the bar, turned right and headed down the quieter end of La Rambla, away from the noisier bars and nightclubs.

‘That was the only time I saw him. He didn’t appear to be drunk, he was talking perfectly ok, he was just a normal person in a pub.

‘I don’t know where he went on to next and I don’t know why he came into this pub, perhaps it was to watch football or see the live band we had as he was Celebrity X Factor back in the UK.

‘We hope he is alright and gets in touch with his family soon.’

Levi starred on Celebrity X Factor in 2019 alongside fellow rugby stars Ben Foden and Thom Evans in a singing group known as Try Star. He was also on E4’s Celebs Go Dating in 2020.
