Mother-of-three completes amazing bathroom transformation by herself which cost only £223

A mother-of-three has revamped her entire bathroom into a modern setting with items from B&Q, Argos and wilko in a DIY budget transformation after hating how it looked like a ‘public toilet’.

Victoria Tribe, 31, from Thatcham in Berkshire grew tired of her dull-looking bathroom and felt like it wasn’t a place she could relax and take a bath after a long day.

She decided to take matters into her own hands and transform the entire space, purchasing items from B&Q, Argos, wilko and Carpet Right in a budget renovation that cost her only £223.

Victoria posted a photo of her incredible bathroom transformation on Hinch’s Army House and Decoration Inspiration Facebook group, gaining over 2.800 likes as dozens of users praised the mother-of-three for a job well done.

She removed all her old tiles and applied the new ones herself with the help of a friend.

She then sanded the walls and ceilings before applying several coats of paint and even spray painted the pipes and radiator.

Victoria also replaced the toilet seat and built a new sink unit.

The entire transformation took her about four days to complete.

Speaking of her renovation process, Victoria explained: ‘The floor vinyl and adhesive cost £17.98 but I knew the gentleman in Carpet Right and he gave me a bit of discount.

‘The tiles were £11.52 per box and I bought four boxes for the price of three.

‘The ready-made tile adhesive was £20 and grey grouting kit was £18, the waterproof and anti-mould sealant was £9.50 and the grey trim to go along the top of the tiles was £2.50 per 2-meter strip and I bought two.

‘The Dulux bathroom paint in Warm Pewter was £22 and white spray paint gloss for the pipes and radiator was £13.

‘The roll of fablon from wilko was £4 and the 4mm spacers were £3.

‘The grout finishing tool I got for £3 and the leopard print toilet seat was £20. The sink unit was £35.

‘I did the vast majority on my own, I just needed help cutting 2 tiles with a diamond cutter as I didn’t feel confident using it.

‘My best friend Laura helped me do the grouting as the grout had to be used within an hour time frame before it went off, so as one grouted the other would wash down and tidy the lines.

‘It took me about four days to complete the entire bathroom. I dropped my children at school at 9am and would stop to pick them up at 3 so I did it while they were at school.

‘My advice for anyone who wants to try this would be to just watch some videos online for help and tips and maybe pop into your local B&Q for advice.

‘That’s what I did and a lovely gentleman that worked there gave me a few tips and was so helpful.

‘Just be confident and it looks worse before it looks better!’
