An amused home baker has left the internet in stitches after her Lunar New Year dessert didn’t turn out the way she had hoped. 

The woman, from Malaysia, baked an elaborate goldfish cake with intricate scales and fins.

But after pulling the tray out of her oven, she found a blob-like ‘fish’ with bulging eyes and no scales or fins in sight.

Despite her amusing cake fail, the mother said she felt ‘dizzy from laughing’ when she saw the result.

She had baked different cakes for her children to enjoy, ranging from a rabbit holding a carrot to peaches.

Her creations have since gone viral after it was shared in a Facebook group, with many comparing the fish to an axolotl, a ‘fat tadpole’, a fetus or a ‘puffer fish’.

Thousands of people saw the funny side to her cake fail, with many joking: ‘Me before quarantine vs me after quarantine.’
