News reporter Tracy Vo makes a welcome return to TV in Perth after suddenly quitting Today

She’s back! News reporter Tracy Vo makes a welcome return to Channel Nine after she shocked fans by quitting the Today show

Tracy Vo made a welcome return to TV in Perth on Thursday, almost two weeks after it was revealed she had quit the Today show for good.

The 37-year-old news presenter returned with a report about a group of female inmates from Boronia Pre-release Centre for Women in Western Australia’s Bentley.

After weeks of rehearsals, the inmates put on an emotional concert for their elderly neighbours from a nearby aged care facility, serenading them across a fence.

Tracy seemed happy to be back home, after previously announcing she was returning to Perth to be closer to her family amid the current coronavirus pandemic.

Last Friday, it was confirmed she had rejoined Channel Nine’s Perth news team, where she previously worked for eight years, prior to her 12-week stint on Today.

Earlier this month, the Herald Sun revealed Tracy’s departure from Today was permanent, after she was previously reported to be on leave.

Tracy told Today earlier this month that she had made the ‘hard decision’ to return to Perth three weeks earlier to be closer to her ageing parents.

And she admitted she already missed the Today team, with the breakfast show filmed in Sydney.

‘I really miss the Today show guys and it was just a family decision, purely a family decision,’ she explained at the time.

‘Everyone has been so supportive, and I just can’t wait to be reunited with everybody again when we’re all allowed to.

‘I’m still part of the family and I really miss them – but it was just one of those things, I had to do it, you know.’

Tracy said she still watches the show every morning from her home in Perth, affectionately referring to her former Today colleagues as ‘the crew’.
