PSG boss Thomas Tuchel was left bemused by Neymar and Kylian Mbappe‘s international call-ups with the injured pair set to join up with their national sides next week.

Neymar injured his groin in last week’s 2-0 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir and the forward missed the league game with Nantes and the defeat against RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

Mbappe also missed the Champions League defeat by Leipzig after hurting his hamstring in the 3-0 victory over Nantes.

But both players have received international call-ups. 

Neymar will join Brazil for their World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay while Mbappe will meet-up with France for the friendly with Finland and UEFA Nations League games with Sweden and Portugal.

Tuchel hinted his frustrations at the call-ups of both of his injured forwards.

‘It would be a good chance to let a few players recover,’ the PSG boss told reporters.

‘But we also have confidence that the national teams take good care of the players.’

The French champions have some big fixtures after the international break including the reverse tie with Leipzig.

Tuchel’s side can’t afford to lose if they are to progress from their group having also been beaten by Manchester United in the opening game.
