MLS clubs are reportedly eyeing a shock move for Neymar amid doubts over his future at Paris Saint-Germain, with Los Angeles FC understood to be leading the pack.

Neymar has spent the last six years with PSG after completing a stunning $255million transfer from Barcelona back in 2017, which made him the most expensive player in soccer history.

Yet despite scoring 118 goals in 173 games, the Brazilian’s time in Paris has not been a resounding success given his struggles in the Champions League, with PSG only making it past the round of 16 on two occasions.

And having failed to make more than 22 league appearances in a single campaign for the club amid a host of injury problems, reports suggest new coach Luis Enrique is prepared to cut him loose this summer.

Neymar is also understood to want out of the Parc des Princes, which appears to have alerted a number of MLS teams.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there is ‘concrete interest’ in the 31-year-old from America, particularly from Los Angeles FC.

Romano said in his latest Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside that Neymar’s preference is to return to Barcelona, where he enjoyed great success before leaving for Paris – winning two Spanish titles and the Champions League.

However, Barcelona are yet to decide whether they will pursue a deal for their former winger, which could open the door to MLS.

After describing US interest in Neymar as ‘concrete’, Romano warned fans to ‘keep an eye on the MLS option’ as speculation over his future intensifies.

Saudi Arabia is also said to be a potential destination, though Premier League teams Chelsea and Manchester United are yet to register official interest.

Neymar is one of five players who have reportedly been informed that they are no longer needed at PSG during brutal meetings with manager Luis Enrique and sporting director Luis Campos.

It comes following reports earlier in the week that he had told the club’s management of his own desire to leave the club.

French publication RMC Sport now claim that Neymar, Marco Verratti, Hugo Ekitike, Juan Bernat and Renato Sanches were told they are ‘not part of PSG’s project and should find a solution elsewhere’.

Neymar and Verratti have been absent from training for the last two days and, along with Kylian Mbappe, were also not invited to the club’s team photo day, ahead of receiving the news from Enrique and Campos.
