Nick Lachey insists Jessica Simpson ‘did not reach out to me’ before publishing memoir about doomed marriage
They were the young lovebirds whose romance defined the early days of reality television on the show Newlyweds: Nick And Jessica.
And while their four year marriage ended way back in 2006, Jessica Simpson couldn’t have been nicer about Nick Lachey in her new memoir, Open Book.
Not that he would know – Nick has insisted he hasn’t read ‘a word’ of Jessica’s memoir, and complained that she ‘did not reach out before it was published’.

‘Well, no, I have not read a single word,’ he told Us Weekly on Saturday night, at Michael Rubin’s Fanatics Super Bowl bash at Loews Miami Beach Hotel.
He then referred to his wife, Vanessa Lachey: ‘Both of us have not read the book, and no, she did not reach out before it was published.’
In her memoir Open Book Jessica revealed that her marriage to Nick was damaged by their respective professional worries.
However she has little criticism for her first husband, writing instead: ‘We meant a lot to each other and we always will.
‘I want to be very respectful because I married him for a reason and we were together for seven years for a reason. He has a family now and I would never say anything to disrespect that.’

Today, Jessica is married to the ex-NFL tight end Eric Johnson with whom she has three children – Maxwell, seven, Ace, six, and Birdie, 10 months.
Between marriages Jessica famously had a romance with John Mayer and has said: ‘I don’t care’ if he tries to spin her memoir in his favor.
She told the New York Times in a recent interview that ‘I don’t think he’ll be shocked’ by the content of Open Book as ‘He knows these stories.’
The book is full of John gossip, such as that Jessica’s therapist said that John’s feelings for her were only obsession, not actual love.
John has been notoriously loose-lipped about his Jessica romance, describing her as ‘sexual napalm’ to Playboy in 2010.
‘That girl, for me, is a drug. And drugs aren’t good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me,’ he dished.
