Northern Beaches residents have vented their frustrations online over Christmas celebrations being cancelled after a virus cluster in the area grew to 28 cases.
A stay-at-home recommendation for the next three days has been issued by the New South Wales government but this has not yet become a public health order.
‘For social gatherings in NSW over Christmas, please consider what is essential and follow guidelines, but we certainly don’t want anyone in the Northern Beaches doing that,’ Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Friday morning.

‘The last thing anyone wants to do is get the virus and then turn up to Christmas lunch and give it to everyone, that is the risk, we can get on top of this but it requires work,’ Ms Berejiklian said.
The outbreak was identified on Wednesday afternoon when a couple in their 60s and 70s tested positive having visited nine venues across the Northern Beaches instead of self-isolating while awaiting results.
On Friday, TikTok user janedoe.anonymous posted a short video sarcastically thanking those who did not follow Covid precautions, captioned: ‘Cheers bud’.
‘When you tan for your Christmas party but a superspreader f**** it for everyone,’ she wrote.
Another TikTok user definitelynotadele posted a video on Thursday night captioned: ‘The rest of Australia to the Northern Beaches’ in which she taps a finger on her temple in a ‘think’ motion.

Some people took to Twitter to complain about missing holiday celebrations, while others encourage people to stay safe.
‘Thank you to the entitles, arrogant, selfish idiots on the Northern Beaches who didn’t think they needed to self isolate. I now can’t see my family members I see once a year for Christmas,’ one person wrote.
‘To everyone on the Northern Beaches, stay home and stay safe,’ added another person.
