Northern Ireland 1-2 Slovakia: Irish suffer play-off final heartbreak as Michal Duris squeezes shot past goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell in extra-time to book place at Euro 2020

Northern Ireland‘s hopes of reaching a second successive European Championship were crushed by Michal Duris’ extra-time strike on Thursday night.

A mix up by George Saville and Jonny Evans allowed Juraj Kucka to race away and slide the ball past goalkeeper Peacock-Farrell in the 17th minute.

Ireland equalised when Milan Skriniar diverted Paddy McNair’s cross into his own net in the 87th minute.

But Duris squeezed a shot past goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell in extra-time to book their place at Euro 2020
