An outback police officer has been caught on camera pushing and pepper spraying a man while attempting to break up a fight in an Indigenous community.
The male officer and his female partner were in the remote town of Borroloola, 900km south-east of Darwin, on Tuesday, when the drama unfolded.
Both Northern Territory cops were quickly surrounded by a riled-up crowd moments after a fight broke out.
During the commotion, the male officer is heard telling one man: ‘It’s our job to look after the community, not listen to your s**t.’

He then turns to another person and says, ‘We can’t let you fight anymore, enough. We don’t give a s**t, we’ve had enough, no more fighting.’
‘When someone gets badly hurt whose fault is it? Everyone needs to stop,’ the female officer chimes in as more people are heard shouting over each other.
‘When someone’s jaw is broken or their skull gets fractured you know who cleans it up? We do,’ the male cop adds.
The comment provokes a response from an angry man who says: ‘If you don’t like your job quit, simple as that.’
The male officer then approaches the man and tells him to ‘get out of my face and f**k off over there’.
After a tense standoff the officer pushes the man and blasts pepper-spray in his face.

Another man in a fluro shirt yells and curses at the male cop for spraying the man.
The male officer walks towards him but a woman stands in his way and appears to urge him to walk away.
He then tells the man he pepper-sprayed ‘you’re in my face’ repeatedly before walking off.
‘You know what, you guys want to fight? Go hard, no worries. Don’t call us,’ the male officer says to the community.
