  • It is unclear whether a previous iOS update may have generated the problem

O2 users have been left furious as the company admits that Apple’s iPhone XR handsets completely lose signal up to several times a day on its network.

Irate customers took to Twitter to vent their frustrations, with many left unable to make and receive calls, connect to the internet or to communicate via text.

It is unclear whether a recent update to the iPhone operating system may have caused the connectivity issues for users of the UK-based mobile network provider.

However, Apple have promised a fix to the problem in an upcoming iOS update.

‘We’re working closely with our partners to resolve an intermittent issue affecting some of our customers using iPhone XR,’ an O2 spokeswoman told the BBC.

‘We thank any customers affected for their patience,’ she added.

O2 reportedly declined to reveal how many of their customers might be presently affected by the issue.

‘We are aware of an issue causing intermittent network connectivity affecting some O2 customers, and we will have a fix in an upcoming software release,’ Apple told the BBC.

Until that time, O2 are advising customers to turn their phones off and then on again, which provides a temporary fix for the problem.

Apple and O2 are encouraging users experiencing issues to reach out to their customer service teams directly or via direct messages on Twitter.

The problem, however, appears to have been occurring for some weeks now.

'I've been complaining about this for two months since I joined O2,' wrote user Antoine Lambert on Twitter. 'My network keeps going off randomly and I have to reboot the iPhone XR each time, I'm fed up now!' he added
