ON THE BOARD: Shriti Vadera, 57, becomes Prudential’s first female chairman
Prudential has poached Santander’s Shriti Vadera to become its first female chairman.
Baroness Vadera, who served as a minister in the business department under Labour’s Gordon Brown, has chaired the board of Santander UK for five years.
The Ugandan-born banker will remain at the bank until a successor has been found, but will join Prudential as a non-executive director from May.
Prudential will then promote her to chairman next January, succeeding Paul Manduca, 68, who has held the position for eight years.
