One World: Together at Home concert offers rare view inside homes of musicians including Little Mix

Music legends from around the world came together for a virtual concert at the weekend to show their support for front line NHS staff and key workers.

BBC One’s One World: Together at Home featured performances from the likes of Elton John, John Legend, Ellie Goulding and Little Mix – with stars performing stunning renditions of popular tracks from their homes.

The UK edition of the coronavirus concert, which included highlights from Saturday night’s eight-hour long YouTube extravaganza and two-hour long U.S. primetime show, gave fans a rare glimpse into the abodes of some of the biggest names in music.

Ellie Goulding

The songstress performed her rendition of Your Song, from what appeared to be her living room.

Her pad has a definite air of countryside chic, with exposed wood panelling and beams and shutters either side of the window.

Ellie is clearly partial to entertaining, with a well-stocked bar trolley boasting a bottle of Williams GB gin, whiskey in a crystal decanter and a silver rabbit cocktail shaker.

There’s also an ice bucket, a large bottle of red wine and a trendy rose gold pineapple-shaped serving vessel.

Lady Gaga

The star behind the sensational line-up, Lady Gaga,  called the concert ‘a love letter to the world’, and was the first to appear in the BBC’s highlights show.

During her rendition of Nat King Cole’s Smile, viewers were given a sneak peak into the singer’s home studio in the Laurel Canyon area of Los Angeles, which showed off her creative talents.

As well as her white baby grand digital Yamaha piano and professional audio set-up, eagle-eyed fans also spotted a white board for brainstorming and a painting easel in the corner of the room, with what looks like a wooden box of paints beside it.

The star, 34, previously revealed art is a passion of hers, tweeting in October last year: ‘My only hobbies are music and art but they’re not hobbies.’

The room also boasted her eclectic interior design taste, with a multicoloured geometric floor topped with a clashing oriental rug.

John Legend

Clearly not shy of showing off his impressive achievements, John Legend’s performance invited fans to admire his large collection of music awards.

Beside his grand piano are three shelves adorned with his accolades, including 10 Grammys, an MTV Video Music Awards ‘moon man’ and the Golden Globe he won for Best Original Song in 2017.

In the background, fans admired the 41-year-old singer’s plush living room, with a large grey suede corner sofa, two round marble coffee tables, artistic lighting fixtures and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto his and wife Chrissy Teigen’s garden.

Little Mix

The girl band delighted fans with a stunning rendition of their hit song Touch, after Perrie Edwards gave a special message of thanks to critical workers.

Their socially-distanced performances were recorded at their separate homes, and while Perrie and Jade Thirlwall kept their backdrops minimal, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson offered viewers an insight into their lavish homes.

Jesy’s vocals appeared to be filmed from a glamorous living room, with an elegant chandelier hanging somewhat precariously low from the ceiling.

Her decor is otherwise fairly neutral, with cream walls, pine wood and a green palm plant injecting some colour.

Tom Jones

Welsh singing superstar Tom Jones, 79, sang a version of Steve Goodman’s The Glory Of Love.

Before he began his performance, The Voice judge spoke about his two year childhood battle with tuberculosis, saying: ‘I’ve been around a long time. I’ve lived a long time.

‘I’ve seen a long things and I’ve experienced a lot of things. This house right here is where i grew up,’ said Tom while pointing to a large painting of Pontypridd which dominated the wall behind him.

Sam Smith

Crooner Sam Smith performed a duet of Stand By Me with John Legend from his living room, which features a large distressed mirrored wall and a comfy-looking couch strewn with grey cushions.

In the reflection, fans caught a glimpse of Sam’s enormous flat screen TV and a white upright piano.

Behind him by the banister lies a pile of music books, while black and white photographs of musicians line his walls.

Elton John

Sir Elton John’s performance of I’m Still Standing was introduced by Victoria and David Beckham and took place in his garden – presumably not the normal home for his expansive black grand piano.

In the background lay two basketballs beside a portable hoop, prompting fans to comment on the singer’s little-known passion.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘I’d like to believe that Elton John’s piano is always on a basketball court and that he shoots hoops in between songs in his downtime.’

The Beckhams

David and Victoria are currently isolating from their lavish Cotswolds pad, and while the tight frame of their address didn’t reveal a great deal of their home, the couple looked comfy as they relaxed on leather, gold-studded wing back chairs.

Their rustic farmhouse abode features original stone floors and walls, and a window behind David provided a glimpse of their garden, adorned with festoon lighting.

 Paul McCartney

Sir Paul played a solo version of Lady Madonna at the piano from his home during the concert, after an impassioned speech during which he called on world leaders to provide necessary health care resources to avoid a repeat of the current pandemic.
