Laura Dern and Joaquin Phoenix were joined by their mothers at the 2020 Academy Awards on Sunday night.
The 53-year-old star, who picked up the Best Supporting Actress prize for her role in Marriage Story, brought her supportive mother Diane Ladd, 84, along as her plus one, and dedicated her win to her hardworking parents.
Meanwhile, Joaquin, 45, was accompanied by his proud mother Arlyn, who watched as he collected the Best Actor gong for his chilling performance in Joker, paying tribute to his late brother River Phoenix onstage.

‘Some say never meet your heroes, but I say if you’re really blessed, you get them as your parents,’ the actress said in her acceptance speech.
‘I share this with my acting heroes, my legends, Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern. You got game. I love you,’ she said.

Phoenix was the one who called 9-1-1 when his teen idol sibling collapsed and suffered seizures outside Sunset Strip hotspot The Viper Room in October 1993, before sadly passing away.
