Matt Vandenberg attended the Colombia versus South Korea clash at the Sydney Football Stadium on Tuesday – and was stunned by the cost of some items on the menu, which he called ‘scrandelous’.

Multi-millionaire Australian businessman Justin Hemmes has secured the food contract with his company Merivale at the recently redeveloped sporting venue – and it can costs a small fortune for a fan to fill their stomach.

Vandenberg’s Twitter post showed a chook pack retailing for $65, a snack pack was $57 and a bucket of chicken was available for $44.

In contrast, KFC’s iconic 21 pieces of chicken – which also comes in a bucket – retails in-store for $34.95.

Fellow football supporters were stunned at the exorbitant prices, which also included popcorn chicken & chips for $23, $21 buffalo wings and $16.50 for popcorn cauliflower.

‘You don’t find these [ridiculous] prices in any other stadium around the world. Only in Australia. It’s a joke,’ one fumed.

Another stated: ‘ Hmmm, I do like chicken but not at [those] inflated prices.’

Charging $2 for ‘additional’ sauce also enraged many followers of the world game on Twitter.

‘It should be law that these can only be sold for 20c and should be included when you’re paying $16.50 for some battered cauliflower. The sauce is a humanitarian addition to make it palatable. Where’s the UN?’ one person wrote.

A round of beers wouldn’t have been cheap either –  single premium Stone & Wood ales set supporters back $13.40.

In welcome news for football fans, these lavish costs only apply at the Sydney Football Stadium.

At Stadium Australia in Sydney’s west – where the Matildas took on Ireland in their tournament opener on July 20 – pork belly tacos and corn chips with guacamole and salsa retailed for $27.
