Barking up the wrong tree? Owner is baffled by her pitbull who loves to climb trees so she can eat leaves and feel the breeze in her fur

  • Sasha the pitbull, 5, used a rundown treehouse to climb on top of a tree
  • She is seen feeling the breeze on her face and taking a bite out of a leaf
  • The dog had previously climbed the tree resulting in the fire service being called

A dog in Texas has taken social distancing to the next level after being filmed standing at the top of a tree.

Sasha, a five-year-old pitbull from Lubbock, Texas, left her owner baffled after climbing up a tree to feel the breeze on her fur.

She has been filmed standing among the branches near the top of a tree at her home.

The pitbull looks very pleased with herself as she perches on a branch after having climbed the tree.

In the video Sasha places her front two paws on a branch and takes in the view from up high.

Her owner is heard asking: ‘What are you doing?’

Sasha then takes a bite out of a nearby leaf before her owner says ‘she’s so dumb’.

This isn’t the first time Sasha has found herself stood at the top of a tree though as she has previously made the climb to bark at birds.

Her owner said: ‘She likes to climb up in the partially torn treehouse to bark at birds and just hang out. The tree is in my back yard.

‘The first time she did it, I was so scared I called the fire department and they came and got her down. Just for her to climb back up. She loves it up there.

‘There was a hail storm about to hit and she was up catching the breeze. We made her come inside shortly after I took the video.”

The footage was recorded on May 20.

Although Sasha used a treehouse to help climb the tree, it is not uncommon for other dogs to physically climb trees.

American on-demand dog walking company Wag! says that breeds such as the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard, Tree Walker Coonhound, Jack Russell Terrier, New Guinea Singing Dog and the Raccoon Dog all have the ability to scale trees after a running start.
