Paul Scholes has hit-out at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team selection, insisting that starting Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani on the bench against Leicester was a mistake.
The Foxes levelled twice from Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes strikes, handing Liverpool the chance to extend their Premier League lead when they face West Brom on Sunday.
Mason Greenwood was left on the bench entirely while Dan James was granted a start, and Scholes believes his old team-mate needs to have a re-think.

Pogba came on in the 54th minute for Dan James and impressed in an improved second-half
‘United were better when they made the subs. I thought they left the best players on the bench,’ Scholes said on punditry duty for BT Sport.
‘Pogba was good when he came on, Cavani too. Greenwood is a good player but didn’t get on. I don’t think United should leave these players out.
‘When Greenwood, Martial and Rashford play with Fernandes in behind nobody can handle it. It’s great to have Cavani coming on and there are some games he can play in.

‘There are 12, 13 ,14 players that can do the business but there will be players like Dan James against Leeds last week. Can they win the league? I don’t know. I think they can challenge but Liverpool are too good for everyone else.
‘It’s going to be difficult for teams to get near Liverpool so it’s a great result for them today.’
Though Liverpool might strengthen their lead, United continued their strong momentum, taking themselves to an eighth game unbeaten – a run which stretches back to their November 1 defeat against struggling Arsenal.
