Paulo Gazzaniga in talks over loan switch to LaLiga side Elche after falling further down the pecking order behind Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart at Tottenham

  • Tottenham stopper Paulo Gazzaniga could move to LaLiga side Elche on loan
  • The Argentine has been third-choice in goal since Joe Hart’s move this summer
  • Defender Japhet Tanganga could stay despite three clubs making enquiries

Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga is in talks over a loan move to Spanish side Elche.

The 29-year-old has been looking for a fresh start after being understudy to Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart’s arrival pushing him further down the pecking order.

The one-cap Argentina international has played 37 times in all competitions for Spurs but none this season, with Hart firmly ensconced as Lloris’ deputy.

The Spanish window closes at 10.59pm on Monday evening, with the English transfer window set to close one minute later.

Defender Japhet Tanganga looks likely to stay despite three clubs making enquiries, but striker Kazaiah Sterling will be allowed to go on loan.

Tanganga has only made seven appearances in all competitions this season and none in the Premier League, while Sterling’s loan at League Two Southend ended in January.
