Pep Guardiola has reiterated his belief that the Premier League remains the ‘most important title’ for his rampant Manchester City team.
Table-toppers City will be able to wrap up their third top-flight trophy in the last four seasons with a win against Chelsea, their opponents in the Champions League final later this month.
And in the build-up to this weekend’s domestic showdown, Guardiola maintained that lifting the league outweighs any other competition.

‘The Premier League is the most important title,’ Guardiola said. ‘I would say financially for the clubs, qualification for the Champions League is the most important title maybe!
‘But there are no doubts the league is the most important thing. The Champions League is so special and nice.
‘But this one means consistency and many other things. Four games to get one victory and we are going to try to get it.

‘If we were playing in one week, six days, it could [have an impact] but there are 21 days… many things can happen.
‘We are going to face them in the final but we are going try to play with the players who are perfect for the way they play and the qualities we have to beat them.
‘I’m a cautious guy in sport. If you don’t have it, don’t talk about it.’
City could have won the title last week if Liverpool’s visit to Manchester United was not postponed and can now settle it themselves instead.

Tuchel has said that Guardiola creates a ‘winning machine’ wherever he goes and the Catalan claimed that is down to the stability of his employers.
‘Well, the numbers speak for themselves, I cannot deny it. I don’t want to be humble with that, it’s true that we won a lot of things. But at the same time, there is a reason and Thomas knows perfectly.
‘When he was in Mainz he could not win titles but at Paris Saint-Germain he could. We need good clubs and good players – like all managers, it’s no secret.
