Piers Morgan reveals he’s boycotting the NTAs as he’s ‘bored’ of losing to This Morning

Piers Morgan has declared that he will boycott this year’s National Television Awards, as he’s bored of losing to This Morning.

The presenter, 54, said on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain that he will not be attending the star-studded ceremony later that evening as he’s fed up of the camera catching his reaction when they lose the Daytime Award.

Good Morning Britain will once again head-to-head with This Morning in the coveted Daytime category, with the latter winning the prize for the last nine years in a row.

Not for me! Piers Morgan has declared that he will boycott this year’s National Television Awards, as he’s bored of losing to This Morning

As the GMB panel discussed the upcoming NTA’s, Piers was quick to announced that he would not be attending.

He told Susanna Reid: ‘I’m boycotting the NTAs this year! I’m not going again. It’s so boring, to watch the same people win every single year. I’m not having that camera on my loser face again.’

Poking fun at GMB’s losing streak, producers then played the This Morning theme tune, which led Piers to mock its hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Mimicking Holly’s voice, Piers said: ”Hello, fingers crossed for tonight”… Oh shut up.’

Piers also went onto poke fun at veteran NTA winners Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly who had won the Best Presenter award every single year since 2001.

Referencing two of the England cricket team’s star players, he said: ‘They win it every year. I want to pay tribute to two cheeky Geordies, they deserve to have a trophy, they’re the two most talented Geordies in the country…. Ben Stokes and Mark Wood.’

Piers’ co-hosts Susanna and Charlotte Hawkins failed to confirm or deny whether they would be attending the awards show, which takes place this evening at London’s O2 Arena.

For the first time the ceremony will be hosted by Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams, after Dermot O’Leary announced he would be stepping down as host.

Sadly Piers didn’t seem convinced that the comedian could pull off hosting the spectacular live show, as he said: ‘David Walliams replacing Dermot O’Leary? Really? Did no one see that live comedy thing he put out on TV? He can’t do it ITV!’

It remains to be seen whether GMB will finally manage to beat This Morning in the Daytime category, which also includes nominations for Sunday Brunch and Loose Women.

Earlier in the show, Susanna also revealed that she might break her long-running sobriety when she jets to Los Angeles to host GMB after the Oscars next week.

The presenter has previously said she quit booze as part of her lifestyle overhaul, but she told Piers: ‘Hollywood baby, I might have a Margarita!’

Piers then joked: ‘Or 10 like you did last time,’ while Susanna went onto suggest that the stars should be provided with bicycles instead of jets to get to the ceremony, to cut down on carbon emissions.
