Police hold concerns for Blue Mountains man with cerebral palsy last seen boarding city-bound train

Serious concerns for a man with cerebral palsy missing from the Blue Mountains for over 24 hours

  • Police have launched a public appeal for assistance locating a missing man
  • Michael Morrell, 46, was last seen at Katoomba Railway station on March 11
  • The missing man lives with cerebral palsy and a mild intellectual disability  
  • He is believed to have boarded a train to Sydney around 1:30pm on Sunday

Police have launched a public appeal for assistance in locating a man with a mental disability who had been missing for over 24 hours.

Michael Morrell, 46, was last seen boarding a Sydney-bound train at Katoomba Railway station in the Blue Mountains around 1:30pm on Sunday, April 11.

Earlier the same day Mr Morrell had let his home on Hillview Road in Katoomba.

Police hold concerns for the welfare of the 46-year-old as he has cerebral palsy and a mild intellectual disability.

Officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command were notified after Mr Morrell didn’t return home as expected. 

He is described as being white, between 165-175cm tall, with a thin build, fair complexion, brown eyes and short, dark hair. 

Mr Morrell was last seen seen wearing a red skivvy under a dark jacket and blue track pants, carrying a red or blue Coles freezer bag.

He is known to regularly travel on public transport to the Sydney CBD, about a two hour train journey from Katoomba.

Police are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
