Horror as pregnant woman and passenger in her 50s die when their car careers into a water-filled ditch in Cambridgeshire

A pregnant woman in her 20s and a passenger in her 50s died after their car veered off the road in Cambridgeshire in a single-vehicle collision.

Emergency services attended the incident on Puddock Road, near Ramsey, around 11:30 on Sunday after reports a silver Nissan Qashqai left the road and entered a water-filled ditch.

Both women were declared dead at the scene and the road has now reopened.

Police want anyone with information or Dashcam footage to contact the force on 101 quoting incident 142 of June 7.

Neither victim has currently been named. 

This incident comes as Cambridgeshire Police revealed they had attended a number of accidents over the weekend caused by the recent rain.

Cambs Police tweeted: ‘This weekend our officers responded to a number of collisions as a result of the flash floods.

‘Aquaplaning is no fun & with more stormy weather expected this week, please make sure you adjust your speed and drive to the condition of the road!’
