Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘chatted for hours over rosé’ on second date

New details of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex‘s second date have emerged, and reveal how the pair hit it off immediately.

In an extract from Katie Nicholl’s new book Meghan and Harry: Life, loss and Love, the royal expert claims the pair enjoyed a date at member’s club Soho house in London, just weeks after being set up on their first date.

According to the book, mutual friend Markus Anderson – who works at the exclusive venue – arranged a discreet table for them where they ‘chatted for hours’.

The pair were first pictured together outside the Soho club in February 2017, and according to Nicholl, were first set up by fashion PR Violet von Westenholz, the daughter of a British baron, who is an old friend of Harry’s.

According to The Mirror, Katie writes: ‘They quickly arranged to see each other again, this time at Soho House in London where another of their mutual friends Markus Anderson works.

‘Anderson arranged for them to have a discreet table at the private member’s club, and because there is a no cameras policy, the couple enjoyed a relaxed date without the worry of being photographed.

‘Over a bottle of chilled rosé they chatted for hours confirming to Harry that he had indeed met someone special.’

Canadian former waiter Markus Anderson, 41, has been described as the second most important man in Meghan Markle’s life after Prince Harry.

A consultant for Soho House with ‘impeccable contacts’, Marcus was by Meghan’s side at her first public appearance with Harry at the Invictus Games in 2017 – and present at her recent babyshower.

Meanwhile Violet, 34, is the daughter of former Olympic skier Baron Piers von Westenholz, who is a close personal friend of Harry’s father.

She was also a childhood friend of Harry’s and worked with Meghan before reportedly setting the pair up.

Violet had known Harry for years, but met Meghan more recently while working as a press relations director for Ralph Lauren.

During that time, she worked alongside Miss Markle on June 30, days before her blind date with Prince Harry in July 2016.

When Harry and Meghan announced their engagement, they played coy about Violet’s identity.

‘We were introduced by a secret friend, who we will protect her privacy,’ Harry said in their first joint interview.

‘It was definitely a set-up,’ Meghan added. ‘It was a blind date.

‘I didn’t know much about him and so the only thing I had asked her when she said she wanted to set us up was, I had one question, I said “Was he nice?”‘

Harry chimed in: ‘I’d never, never even heard about her until this friend said “Meghan Markle”.

‘I was like, “Right okay, give me, give me a bit of background, like what’s going on here?” When I walked into that room and saw her and there she was sitting there, I was like “Okay, well I’m going to have to really up my game here.”‘

According to a source that spoke to E! News, Violet had heard about Harry’s desire to meet someone and his troubles finding The One.

Miss von Westenholz, who was once linked romantically with singer James Blunt, has previously refused to deny whether or not she was the mystery cupid.
