PSG’s Kean says he is not upset to have left Everton and confirms he could have returned to Juventus

Moise Kean claims he is not losing much sleep over leaving Everton following his loan move to Paris Saint-Germain last week.

The Italian arrived at Goodison Park last summer from Juventus, and despite fans immediately showing their support for him by unfurling an anti-racism banner last September in solidarity with him following the abuse he had suffered in Italy, the £27.5million move has not worked out. 

The 20-year-old has scored just four times in 37 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees but has now brought a temporary halt to his Merseyside misery by joining Ligue 1 champions PSG on a season-long loan deal.

And speaking to RAI Sport, Kean confirmed he is excited about his latest opportunity while revealing he could have returned to his former club Juventus as well before moving to Paris. 

‘I am not particularly upset to have left English football, even if the banner from the Everton fans really moved me, as I wasn’t expecting it,’ Kean said. 

‘It’s true, I could’ve returned to Juve, but I made this decision along with my family to play in Ligue 1. I’ve been to Paris before and have relatives here.

‘I hope to learn a great deal from this fantastic experience. I am young, I like to work closely with top strikers, so I can learn from their experience and their style of football.’

Kean had started just four games since Carlo Ancelotti succeeded Marco Silva as Everton manager in December last year, and was infamously hauled off after 19 minutes by caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson at Old Trafford last season.

The form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is joint-top scorer in the Premier League with Tottenham’s Son Heung-min this season with six goals, means the chances of Kean forcing himself into the starting XI had become even more remote.

Kean had struck goals against Salford City and Fleetwood Town in this season’s Carabao Cup before his move, with his other Everton goals coming in January and July against Newcastle and Bournemouth.

But he will now look to join forces with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Mauro Icardi and rehabilitate his career at the Parc de Princes as the French champions look to win their eighth league crown in nine seasons.
