Rachael Ray is doing her part to help feed families during the coronavirus outbreak, donating $4 million through her two charities.

The 51-year-old celebrity chef and talk show host announced the donation through The Rachel Ray Foundation website on Tuesday, and through her show’s Instagram.

The donations will be made through The Rachel Ray Foundation and The Yum-O! Organization, with $2 million from each charity ‘directed to help fund critically needed food programs and support services for two-legged and four-legged family members alike.’

Half of the donations are going to organizations such as Feeding America, Share Our Strength, World Central Kitchen, The National Restaurant Association, City Harvest, Hunger Free America, Wholesome Wave and ReThink Food.

The second wave of donations are going to animal organizations such as the North Shore Animal League, Best Friends Animal Society, Austin Pets Alive, Big Dog Ranch, San Antonio Pets Alive and Lost Our Home Rescue.

Ray will also donate funds between $25,000 and $50,000 to ‘regional and local organizations’ distributed by Best Friends Animal Society, according to RachelRayShow.com

‘My overall goal with these donations is to support American families affected during the Covid-19 crisis with assistance for two-legged and four-legged family members,” Ray said in a statement.

“We felt it was important to help offset the decline in donations organizations have experienced, from a combination of the cancellation of fundraising events and reduced private donations,’ she added.

Ray has long donated a portion of her products’ sales to various charities, adding, ‘We have been at this for a decade, and I never wanted to ask people to donate to the philanthropies I personally care about.’

‘So we have always directed portions of the proceeds from the sale of many of our products — from pet food to pots and pans — to charitable giving,’ she added.

The Rachel Ray Foundation is a private foundation, ‘fully funded by the proceeds from the sale of Rachael Ray Nutrish whose goal is to simply support causes that are helping animals in need.’

The Yum-o! Organization is a public foundation created in 2006 dedicated to teaching families about cooking, feeding hungry children and funding opportunities for kids pursuing careers in restaurants and food service.

She has authored over 20 cookbooks and has won Daytime Emmy Awards for 30 Minute Meals and her talk show The Rachael Ray Show.
