Rangers have already struck SIXTY goals this season, more than any team in Europe’s major leagues

Rangers may have thrown away a 2-0 lead in their Europa League clash at home to Benfica on Thursday, but the tie marked an incredible 60th goal of the season for Steven Gerrard’s men.

No side across Europe’s top 11 leagues have outscored the Gers, who have also maintained an unbeaten start to the season which is now at 22 games.

Gerrard’s side are desperate to stop Celtic recording ten Scottish league titles in a row and they currently lead the table 11 points ahead of Neil Lennon’s men albeit having played two games more.

While no major side in Europe can match the tally of Gerrard’s team, Bayern Munich may claim to be the most clinical side in front of goal so far this term.

Although the German giants trail Rangers by nine goals, they are averaging nearly three-and-a-half goals per game and the vast majority of their goals have come in the Bundesliga as well as the Champions League.

In fact, Rangers saw 10 of their goals come in the Europa League qualifiers, including a 5-0 thrashing of minnows Lincoln Red Imps.

Red Bull Salzburg are a surprising third on the list from Austria, but have seen 13 of their 51 goals come against unfancied teams in the Austrian Cup – winning one of their games 10-0. 

Bayern Munich remain the most clinical though with Robert Lewandowski (above) helping them achieve a strike rate of just under three-and-a-half goals per game

Jose Mourinho’s men also narrowly boast the best goals-per-game average in England

The amount of games already played in Scotland see Celtic also high up in fourth on 48 goals, while League Cup group fixtures in the country also see many teams in the top flight feature in the list including rock bottom Hamilton.

Ajax round off the top five with 44 goals much in part thanks to their incredible 13-0 Dutch top flight victory at Venlo back in October.

Having played four more games than Ajax, Tottenham Hotspur in sixth are the top Premier League club with 44 goals. Even though Jose Mourinho’s side have played more games than their English rivals, the Premier League leaders still boast the best goals-per-game average, narrowly edging out Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton at just over two-and-a-half goals per game.

Chelsea are ranked as the second best team in England and eighth overall, so goals are sure to be expected when they face their London rivals Spurs on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

Despite being ranked down in 32nd, Barcelona are the most prolific club in Spain

The Reds meanwhile are 11th overall – 10 places ahead of their Merseyside rivals – and 12 ahead of bitter enemies Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men shot up the rankings thanks to their 4-1 win over Istanbul Basaksehir in their mid-week Champions League clash, while their local rivals City have paid the price for a stuttering start to the season down in 47th alongside Italian champions Juventus.

Despite scoring the fewest Premier League goals outside the bottom four with nine, Arsenal’s Europa League exploits and a few goals from the League Cup and Community Shield see them creep into the list in 56th.

Spain’s late start to the season as well as a lack of domestic cup competitions see them suffer the most, with their top ranked team being Barcelona with 28 goals having only played 12 matches, with Real Madrid in 54th on 24 goals.
