Real Madrid have reportedly missed out on €15million (£13m) of revenue by having their matches against Liverpool and Barcelona behind closed doors despite reduced expenses.
Zinedine Zidane’s men beat the Reds 3-1 in midweek at the empty Estadio Alfredo di Stefano – which Jurgen Klopp criticised – and now have one foot in the Champions League semi-finals.
And now the Spanish giants face the prospect of El Clasico on Saturday without their passionate fans – as well as a significant hit to their finances, according to MARCA.

The matches against Liverpool and Barcelona would normally have brought in £13million more
Work is currently being undertaken on the Bernabeu while games take place behind closed doors and it is hoped that modernisation will take place in time for the 2022-23 season, with the team due to move back to their iconic home next season.
Their first-leg tie against the English champions would have brought in around €10m (£8.7m) more for the club in front of a packed house (excluding the money paid by season-ticket holders), while the clash with their fierce Spanish rivals would have seen the club take about €5m (£4.3m) more.
Zidane’s side – who currently sit three points behind city and LaLiga rivals Atletico in third – even lost an average of €3m (£2.6m) in revenue from Champions League group-stage games against less-fancied sides Borussia Monchengladbach, Atalanta and Shakhtar Donetsk.
