Reece James will miss England’s forthcoming UEFA Nations League games against Belgium and Iceland after being hit with a two match suspension.
The news casts doubt over the Chelsea star’s place in Gareth Southgate’s next squad which is announced on Thursday.
James was shown a straight red card for dissent in the defeat to Denmark last month following a heated exchange with referee Jesus Gil Manzano after the final whistle.

The 20-year-old was arguably England’s best player on the night as he made his full debut for the Three Lions.
But he could now miss the opportunity to build on that promising performance after UEFA confirmed he cannot play in the forthcoming Nations League fixtures.
England face the Republic of Ireland in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday and James is eligible to play in that game.

The Manchester United defender was given his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards, meaning Maguire is banned for the crucial game in Belgium on Sunday.
