Republican Rep. Nancy Mace say ‘every time Joe Biden has been asked about his family’s business, he’s lied’

  • Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace said President Joe Biden is a liar
  • Says impeachment inquiry is a ‘step in the right direction’ towards getting to the bottom of the truth
  • Mace, a member of the House Oversight panel, says she wants to hear from more witnesses and subpoena more bank records

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) says President Joe Biden is a liar and has never told the truth when he’s asked to talk about his involvement in his family’s business dealings.

The South Carolina representative, who sits on the House Oversight and Reform Committee, warned that Republicans want to see more bank records subpoenaed to examine the extent of how the Biden family benefited from President Biden’s public offices.

She also told Dan Abrams on NewsNation that she wants to speak with more witnesses.

It comes after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced on Tuesday the opening of an impeachment inquiry into Biden and alleged family corruption.

‘Every time Joe Biden has been asked about his family’s business, he’s lied about it,’ Mace said. ‘Joe Biden denied being on phone calls with Hunter and his business partners, but he was so what did they talk about?’

But the White House reasons that the Biden family is ‘tight-knit’ and that the daily calls between the President and his 53-year-old recovering addict son are just check-in calls.

Sometimes, it appears, those calls happened while Hunter Biden was on calls with business associates.

‘This is part of the right-wing’s misinformation machine to try to confuse people about what the truth is,’ White House spokesperson for oversight and investigations Ian Sams told CNN Wednesday morning.

‘The truth is that the president, as he said publicly for years, calls his family every day to check in,’ Sams added. ‘He calls his son every day to check in. He calls his other family members to check in to see how they are doing. He loves them. They are a tight-knit family.’

Hunter’s former business partner Devon Archer told the House Oversight Committee in testimony earlier this summer that Hunter put his father on speakerphone during business meetings at least 20 separate times.

Chairman James Comer’s Oversight panel is leading the impeachment inquiry with the assistance of the House Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees.

Asked about what else Mace hopes to discover during the impeachment inquiry, the Oversight panel member said: ‘Well, I would like to see other witnesses subpoenaed. I would like to have other whistleblowers be able to come forward, I’d like to talk to the bookkeeper.’

‘They can do that now,’ Dan Abrams said of the enhanced subpoena power due to the opening of an impeachment inquiry.

‘I would like to see Joe Biden’s bank records,’ Mace continued. ‘So, my understanding is that this [inquiry] expands our subpoena power. It would allow us to go after Joe Biden’s bank records. And if that’s what gets us there, then I’m going to support it.’

A House inquiry is the first step in the impeachment process and provides enhanced powers to the panels gathering information to draft articles – or charges – of impeachment.

Expanded powers could result in President Biden and Hunter being subpoenaed.

Mace said that the impeachment inquiry is ‘a step in the right direction here.’

‘If you could see some of the things that we’ve seen in the SARS reports, and you couple it with corroborating information, whether it’s test text messages, emails, whistleblowers, witnesses, phone calls, you name it – every time Joe Biden has been asked about this, he’s lied about it,’ Mace told Abrams.

‘If an inquiry gets us Joe Biden’s bank records to confirm what we all believe then, then I’m okay with that as well,’ she added. ‘It’s not the next step into an impeachment vote, which is something totally different, but it just expands our ability to investigate what DOJ, FBI and IRS have not fully done.’
