Roma 1-1 Atalanta: Bryan Cristante cancels out Ruslan Malinovskyi’s opener to earn hosts a draw

Roma 1-1 Atalanta: Bryan Cristante cancels out Ruslan Malinovskyi’s opener to earn hosts a draw – as both sides finish with 10 men after Robin Gosens and Roger Ibanez see red

  • Ruslan Malinovskyi fired Atalanta ahead on 26 minutes with a close-range finish
  • Atalanta were reduced to 10 men on 69 minutes when Robin Gosens was sent off
  • Roma made their man advantage pay off when Bryan Cristante equalised
  • Roger Ibanez was sent off for the hosts in injury time as the match ended 1-1

Roma’s feint Champions League hopes remain intact thanks to Bryan Cristante’s late equaliser against Atalanta, but their chances of finishing in the top four are now becoming more remote.

Cristante levelled the scoreline on 75 minutes to cancel out Ruslan Malinovskyi’s opener but the result sees Roma now 10 points off the top four with six games remaining.

For Atalanta the draw sees them remain third but they will be without Robin Gosens for their next game after he was sent off for two yellow cards.
