Shania Twain celebrated Taylor Swift after the Blank Space singer dethroned her as the female artist with the most weeks at number one on the Billboard Country Albums Chart.

The 56-year-old songstress quote-tweeted a post by a Taylor fan account that shared the news that Taylor’s albums had held the top spot for 98 weeks, beating Shania’s record of 97 weeks.

‘Let’s Go Girls!!!! Proud of you @taylorswift.’ Shania tweeted.

She continued, ‘Historical records are meant to be made and then broken.

‘The baton is meant to be passed on to new generations. Unstoppable young female country artists are (fire emoji) inspite of the hurdles (raised fist emoji) #trailblazers.’  

Though the Pennsylvania-born singer-songwriter now holds the top spot for a female artist, Garth Brooks maintains the all-time record with 169 weeks at number one.

The band Alabama comes in second overall with 125 weeks with Willie Nelson in third with 106. 

After re-recording her first six albums, Taylor topped the charts twice in 2021. In April, her album Fearless charted at number one for three weeks.  

Her album Red (Taylor’s Version) spent seven weeks on top after it was released on November 12.

In December, the Still The One hitmaker featured the eleven-time Grammy Award winner in a promo video for her Apple Music Radio podcast Home Now Radio.

She wrote in the caption: ‘The latest #HomeNowRadio episode celebrates genre defying artists! (I know a few of those)

The Canada native celebrated Taylor on her 32nd birthday last December as she shared an image of the two embracing on stage at the American Music Awards in 2019.

‘Happy birthday to an incredible entertainer, a super talented soul, someone I take great joy in following, my dear friend,’ she gushed in the caption, adding a pink heart emoji.

After Taylor made the transition from the country genre to pop with her 2014 album 1989, Shania praised her in an interview with ET Canada.

She said, ‘I think that everybody should just follow their heart and do their artistic best, and just enjoy their creativity,’ 

‘[Taylor]’s a singer-songwriter-performer, she does it all … the world is her oyster. She’s young and she needs to just do whatever she’s having fun at and I think everybody’s loving it.’

Taylor jumped on the ‘Mama Said’ TikTok trend to paid tribute to Shania for paving the way for country artists to crossover to pop.

She added photos and videos of Shania along with the caption: ‘learned from the best.’ 

Shania responded by sharing her own take on ‘Mama Said’, honoring her inspiration Dolly Parton with video clips of the two country queens performing duets.

She captioned the video: ‘Thank you @taylorswift ❤️ I appreciate you! Paying this one forward to another trailblazer – @dollyparton �� #mamasaid #letsgogirls’ 

Taylor then posted a clip of herself doing a duet with the video, along with the caption: ‘I have ceased to be a person anymore. I have exploded into a cloud of confetti hearts.’
