Tones and I – real name Toni Watson – also bought a $3.3million Byron Bay retreat in December, according to a report by Domain in January.

She also owns a property in Melbourne’s Frankston, which she bought for just $800,000 in an off-market deal, according to a report by KIIS FM in January last year.

Before finding fame, Tones and I slept in her van and started out busking on the streets of Melbourne and Byron Bay.

‘I pretty much bought a van and took two weeks annual leave because I wasn’t 100 per cent sure that anything would work,’ she told triple j in February 2019.

‘I came up to Byron and on the first night of busking a guy walked past and he was like, “Here’s my card.” A month later, I was like, “What have I got to lose.”‘

She acknowledged just how drastically her life has changed since then during an interview with The Times in November 2019.

‘Last night I was at the NRJ Awards in France, and they put me in the presidential suite,’ she said at the time.

‘Last year we were sleeping on mattresses on the floor, scraping up enough change to buy a packet of tobacco.’
