Sir Alex Ferguson pockets £12,000 as former Manchester United manager’s horse Protekorat storms to victory at Cheltenham

  • Protekorat was ridden by Harry Skelton and stormed to a brilliant 17-length win 
  • 6-5 favourite won the SSS Super Alloys Supports Racing welfare Novices’ chase
  • Sir Alex also owns Rock of Gibraltar who famously ran in Man United colours 

Sir Alex Ferguson was celebrating after his horse Protektorat won at Cheltenham, pocketing the legendary former Manchester United manager £12,000.

The 6-5 favourite stormed to victory to land the SSS Super Alloys Supports Racing Welfare Novices’ Chase. 

Protektorat, who was ridden by Harry Skelton proved an easy winner at the November meet and secured an excellent 17-length win. 

It was a profitable day for Sir Alex Ferguson after his horse Protektorat won at Cheltenham

The former Old Trafford chief must wish he could transfer his horse’s form to that of his old side. 

Ferguson led Manchester United to an astonishing 13 Premier League titles in his 25 years at the club.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are currently 14th in the table and are eight points behind leaders Leicester City.  

Sir Alex has a history with horses, the most infamous being 2002 European horse of the year Rock of Gibraltar. 

The champion racehorse ran in Man United colours and earned over £1million for the former Red Devil’s boss.
