SkyWorld, UM to build cutting-edge tech ecosystem

KUALA LUMPUR: City developer SkyWorld Development Bhd has entered into a groundbreaking collaboration with Universiti Malaya (UM) to develop a transformative Application Programming Interface (API) set to revolutionise data integration ecosystem within the property development sector.

The memorandum of agreement (MoA) signed at The Cubes in Universiti Malaya recently, solidifies their shared commitment to co-develop a cutting-edge technology ecosystem, specifically focusing on API development, data warehousing, data mining, and an advanced data analyst system integrated with machine learning.

According to SkyWorld CEO Lee Chee Seng, “The envisaged API marks a significant leap in our technological capabilities. It empowers us to seamlessly integrate data across platforms, providing a holistic view of customer integrations and unlocking new realms of operational efficiency.”

The MoA signing, he added marks a pivotal milestone towards technological transformation and they are happy to work hand-in-hand with UM to create a technology ecosystem that propels them into a new era of innovation in property development.

“By leveraging the expertise of Universiti Malaya’s Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, the collaboration seeks to create a robust infrastructure capable of efficiently managing vast amounts of data, uncovering valuable insights from complex datasets through automated analytical processes, and driving strategic and informed decision-making within SkyWorld,” he added.

According to UM Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology dean professor Dr Loo Chu Kiong, this partnership will offer exceptional opportunities for UM’s students and faculty to apply cutting-edge research in real-world scenarios and this aligns with UM’s mission to cultivate future leaders and innovators, further contributing to the nation’s intellectual and technological prowess.

At Universiti Malaya, he said they always strived to be at the forefront of innovation and excellence.

“We stand on the brink of a transformative collaboration with SkyWorld that transcends national boundaries, placing Malaysia on the global map as a hub for technological innovation in property market analytics. The MoA we sign today with SkyWorld is not just a formal partnership, it is a testament to our shared vision of creating impactful solutions,” he added.

“We are proud to embark on this pioneering journey with SkyWorld to set a new benchmark in industry-academia partnerships. This collaboration reflects our commitment to nurturing innovation and fostering collaborative initiatives that have a meaningful impact on both our students and the industry at large,” he said.

The memorandum outlines a 2-year collaboration between the two parties from the first quarter of 2024 to the fourth quarter of 2025.
