A civilian then ended managed to knock the alleged criminal off the scooter, bringing the dramatic chase to a close.

The fleet-footed officer gained attention after the Queensland Police used the footage to highlight a recent spike in crime in the city’s CBD.

The crime increase has led the local police to increase its patrols to reduce public disorder and street offences in the CBD.

The 39-year-old man on the scooter was charged with multiple offences, including one count each of stealing, forged legal document, fare evasion and obstructing police.

He will appear in court later this month.
