Customers can shave minutes off their grocery shop with a handy new hack that has gone viral on TikTok.

The trick was revealed in a video posted by a man named Matt, who posts as ‘1980sgamer’ and is believed to live in the US.

After paying for his items, he loads them directly into a trolley without any shopping bags and pushes the cart to his car, where the boot is filled with laundry baskets.

Matt then transfers his groceries straight into the baskets, saving time waiting for them to be bagged at the checkout and reducing the environmental damage caused by single-use plastics.

‘This is the best grocery shopping hack yet! It just keeps getting better and better,’ he wrote in the caption.

‘I really like this. All cars should come with something cool in the back for this,’ one viewer wrote.

‘If anybody takes this invention I only want 11 percent [of the total profits].’

Another added: ‘Why did I not learn this 30 years ago?’

But some were unimpressed.

‘I honestly thought this was a joke at first, maybe because I’m European – everyone here does it like that!’ said one woman.
