Teen captures uncomfortable moment ‘creepy’ man sits next to her and makes unwanted advances

A teenage girl has captured the unsettling moment that a strange man sat down next to her and persisted to make unwanted advances, ignoring her clear discomfort and disinterest — and her viral video has left empathetic social media users horrified but unsurprised.

The 18-year-old, who goes by @maassassin_ on TikTok, was livestreaming outside next to a pool when the strange man — whom she guessed to be between 25 and 30 — approached and asked if another chair at her table was taken.

When she replied that it was free and he could ‘take’ it, the man surprised her by sitting down next to her and attempting to start a conversation.

Though her eyes open wide and she immediately tells him that she didn’t mean he could sit next to her, the man doesn’t budge and continues to pressure the clearly uncomfortable teen into strained conversation.

Yikes! A teenage girl has captured the unsettling moment that a strange man sat down next to her and persisted to make unwanted advances, ignoring her clear discomfort

Uh-oh: The 18-year-old, who goes by @maassassin_ on TikTok, was livestreaming outside next to a pool when the strange man approached and asked if another chair at her table was taken

The teen shared a pair of TikTok videos documenting the encounter from the moment that man approached.

In the beginning, she is speaking casually to the camera, in the middle of a livestream, when the man approaches off-camera and causes her to look up.

‘Hey, how are you?’ the man can be heard asking.

She appears confused at the interaction, but when the man apparently gestures to the empty chair at her table, she offers a hesitant smile.

‘Yeah, you can take that,’ she says with a nod.

But when the man immediately sits down and asks her how she is doing, her eyes grow wide.

‘Oh, I didn’t mean you could sit there,’ she says clearly.

Not what she meant! When she replied that it was free and he could 'take' it, the man surprised her by sitting down next to her and attempting to start a conversation

‘I thought you said I could take this,’ the man replies, blatantly ignoring her discomfort. ‘What did you mean I could take?’

‘You could take the chair,’ she says hesitatingly.

When he asks if he can sit there, she appears to panic, answering uncertainly: ‘Um… I don’t know you.’

He continues to try to draw her out in conversation, despite her tone and obvious non-verbal cues that she does not want him there.

She gives him a fake name when he asks, and says ‘no, thank you’ when he reaches out a hand to shake hers.

‘I see your hesitancy,’ he tells her, clearly noticing how uncomfortable she is but refusing to leave her alone. ‘I just, I just, I couldn’t help but notice you were the only one hanging out over here and my intentions were to come hang out over here by the pool, and I didn’t see anybody else over here.’

Here, she tells him that she is currently filming a livestream talking to some people, to which he says, ‘Alright, I got you. I won’t interrupt.’

Go away! Here, she tells him that she is currently filming a livestream talking to some people, to which he says, ‘Alright, I got you. I won’t interrupt’

Still, he doesn’t immediately leave, but simply leans back in his chair.

Finally, he gets up, telling the girl that it was nice to meet her. When he walks away, she stares back at the camera, putting one hand on her chest and the other over her mouth.

That’s when another man chimes in. Standing on the balcony, he calls down to the stranger who had sad near the girl.

‘I was just saying “hey” to her,’ the man says.

‘That’s cool. That’s my niece,’ says the other man — though it’s unclear if he is actually the girl’s uncle or just a helpful spectator.

In an update video, the teen says that she definitely did not want the man to sit with her, adding: ‘I was uncomfortable the entire time, because that was the first time it ever happened to me.’

Though the teen has comments turned off on her videos, they’ve since been shared on Twitter, where horrified viewers are sounding off, calling the man ‘creepy,’ ‘disgusting,’ and ‘gross.’

‘Men truly have a bizarre ownership mentality towards women,’ wrote one.

Several women have also commented to point out how typical this is for them.

‘Raise your hand if this creepy crawly crap happened to you when you were a teenager. He only leaves when she says she’s doing a live feed. This stuff happens a bazillion times a day and it sets the tone of what young women and girls begin to expect from men,’ wrote one.

‘Stuff like this is really traumatizing to me. The man knows what he’s doing. And she thinks he’ll read the signs, see, and thereby respect her innocence. But her youth and fear are why he’s attracted to her,’ wrote another.

‘What woman has never felt like this girl? My stomach hurt with hers,’ wrote yet another.

‘My heart was racing with hers. Why can’t people read the room? She was obviously not interested in talking to him. Sadly I and many women have experienced this same type of situation,’ wrote one more.

Another replied to her: ‘He read it. He just didn’t care. Any man that approaches a young girl like this kind likes a little bit of fear. Count on it.’
