Three south London primary schools are locked down as police respond to reports of gun 

Teachers lock down south London primary schools as police investigate sightings of man carrying a gun

  • Police raced to the scene in Bromley after receiving reports of a gunman  
  • Staff and pupils were told to stay indoors as the situation unfolded 
  • Met said afterwards that they found no trace of a gunman or a weapon  

Three south London primary school have been placed on lock-down as police respond to reports of a man carrying a gun. 

Officers raced to Bromley this afternoon, telling pupils and teachers to remain indoors.

Castlecombe Primary School, St Vincent’s Catholic Primary School and Mottingham Primary School have were all shut. 

After attending, the Met Police said that there was no gunman or firearm found in the area.  

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: Police were called at 15:08hrs on Tuesday, 11 February to a report of a male seen carrying a firearm at Dunkery Road, Bromley. 

‘Children were kept inside a local school as a precaution while officers and NPAS made a search of the immediate and surrounding areas. No trace of the suspect or a firearm was found. No arrests.’
