Former England defender Wayne Bridge says top Premier League clubs ‘won’t want to touch’ Jose Mourinho after he was sacked from Tottenham.
Mourinho was relieved of his duties at Spurs following a dismal Premier League campaign that has seen Tottenham occupy seventh place in the table.
Having also failed in the Europa League, Bridge believes Mourinho should take some ‘time out’ and look at the possibility of becoming Portugal national team’s manager.

Speaking to BettingExperts.com, Bridge said: It’s going to be a bit difficult because of the clubs that he’s been at, top Premier League clubs might not want to touch him.
‘If it was me, I’d take a bit of time out, he’s had so many jobs and won so many trophies but he loves the game.
‘Maybe a national team is next because he’s been at all of the big clubs. He could go on to manage Portugal at some stage or a Portuguese-speaking nation like Brazil, I’d like to see him get that!’

Mourinho’s dismissal came less than a week before Tottenham take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.
Bridge believes it is Mourinho’s player-manager relationships that have let Tottenham down this season.
He said: ‘Maybe Mourinho hasn’t got the players that he’s wanted. When you look at Chelsea and some of the players that he brought in, they knew him very well which worked well for him.
‘I could imagine at Manchester United and Tottenham that players haven’t warmed to him and that if he thinks they’re not good enough than that might affect them too.
‘The individual player-manager relationships have probably let the team down. He could say the players have let the team down but also the players could say they’ve let them down. These one-on-one relationships haven’t helped him.
Bridge reflected on his own experience with the manager, saying: ‘When things have gone wrong maybe he hasn’t handled it the best. For me, personally, it could be quite hard with him.

‘I felt sometimes I didn’t get a lot from him and I didn’t know what I had to do and there was one game in particular when I was dragged off at half time against Charlton.
‘Not a word was said to me and I thought it was harsh. I don’t think the team played great in that half and to single me out was harsh.
‘He dragged me off and I’ve seen him do it with other players before, he’s done it after 20 minutes.
‘When it becomes week after week and you don’t get anything from him, it does get difficult.’
