We do, we do, we do, we do! Four couples in the same family share their anniversary after getting hitched on the same day

  • Bride got married the note in Brisbane, exactly 57 years after her grandparents
  • She said she hoped the happiness of the other unions would be passed down

A bride wed her husband on the same day as her grandparents and two other relatives in the hope their lifelong happiness could be passed down.

Speech pathologist Alison Moorcroft married her partner Bree in Brisbane, Queensland, on May 23, exactly 57 years after her grandparents tied the knot.

The pair said they hoped the date would bring good luck and assure a successful  marriage.

Alison Moorcroft (third to the left) married Bree (third to the right) on the same date as her grandparents Janette and Danny Lewis (top). Their daughter Dianne (second to the left) married her husband John (left) on May 23, and so did grandson Matthew (top right) and his wife Hannah (bottom right)

‘Gran and gramps started it, and they’re still married and have a loving relationship so I reckon we can carry that on and that will be amazing,’ Alison told Channel 9.

Alison and Bree are the fourth couple in their family to get married on May 23.

Relatives Janette and Danny Lewis wed in 1964, before Dianne and John tied the knot in 1987 and then Matthew and his wife Hannah in 2018.

The grandparents said the date made their granddaughters wedding extra ‘special.’

‘It’s a privilege to think that the kids are so interested in doing that, making it special for us. Because it really is special,’ Mr Lewis said.

The tradition is expected to continue as the couple said their future children ‘better’ tie the knot on the same day.
