West Ham’s high-flying stars will NOT receive any bonuses if they qualify for Europe

REVEALED: West Ham’s high-flying stars will NOT receive any bonuses if they qualify for Europe this season… because the possibility was not brought up in talks between captain Mark Noble and the board last year

  • West Ham players will not receive a bonus if they qualify for European football
  • David Moyes’ side are lying in fifth place in the Premier League after 22 games
  • Captain Mark Noble did not discuss Europe during bonus talks with the board
  • The last time West Ham qualified for a main European competition was in 2006

West Ham‘s players will not receive any bonuses if they qualify for Europe this season.

David Moyes’ side are riding high in fifth position, which would secure a Europa League place at the end of the season.

Captain Mark Noble negotiated the players’ collective bonus pot with the West Ham board last summer.

But as the club had not finished higher than 10th in the last four years, a payment for obtaining European football was not secured.

West Ham qualified for the Europa League in 2015 and 2016 but were knocked out in the qualifying rounds and have not played in a main European competition since 2006, when they were beaten 4-0 on aggregate by Palermo in the first round of the UEFA Cup.

West Ham’s bonus pool this season is understood to be largely based on where the club finish in the League rather than rewarding European qualification.

There are also major penalty clauses that apply in the event of relegation.
